Kimitsu 君津市
Navigating my identity has as a half Australian and half Japanese individual has always been an introspective topic. One may experience a profound sense of belonging to both cultures while simultaneously feeling like an outsider in each. Being born and raised in Sydney, Australia I have felt disconnection with the Japan culture but now entering my mid twenties, I am continuously trying to create a connection with my Japanese heritage.
This series of images documents my family home & neighbour hood in Kimitsu, Chiba over the many years of travel.
This first set of images was shot in October of 2024 & captures Autumn morning light inside our home through different windows and materials.

This series started in 2023 with a set of images of my home while my Grandad was ill with late stage dementia. Until his passing, my family showed complete unselfishness towards his wellbeing, dedicating years of their life.
This set of images document that time.

As an ongoing project that will be continually updated over the years, I hope to capture my family, our home & document my life growing with it.
